Google to Invest $400 Million More in Nevada Data Centers

Google is expanding its presence in Nevada with a planned $400 million investment aimed at enhancing its existing data centers in Henderson and Storey County. This latest round of funding builds on the company’s significant past investments in the state, which include a $600 million facility in Henderson and another $600 million center in Storey County, both completed in 2020. Since breaking ground on the Henderson data center in 2019, Google’s total investment in Nevada has exceeded $2.2 billion. The company’s focus now is on advancing its cloud infrastructure and meeting the increasing demand for its digital services, including Google Cloud, artificial intelligence, and products like Google Search, Google Maps, and Google Workspace.

Google’s commitment to Nevada extends beyond infrastructure, reflecting its dedication to economic growth and innovation in the state. The tech giant’s investment also supports local initiatives, particularly in water stewardship, where Google has spent $4.7 million on projects in the Las Vegas Valley and the Lower Colorado River Basin. In 2023, Google replenished more water to the Colorado River Basin than it consumed at its Clark County data center, underscoring its focus on sustainability. Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo praised Google’s continued investment, highlighting it as a key factor in the state’s emergence as a leading tech hub in the West.
